The Event:
“Coterie” is defined as “a small group of people with shared interests or tastes” – add in “culinary,” and our event was born. Surrounded by industry peers and experts, our meal was an engaged education and stunning showcase, highlighting the partnership of The Rutledge Room team and Hamby Catering’s operations and culinary staff.
The Dining:
The evening began with passed hors d’oeuvres including traditional deviled eggs, fried green tomato fritters and more. The main courses displayed the breadth of Hamby Catering’s culinary knowledge, starting with grilled shrimp skewers, then flavorful grilled bruschetta chicken and rounding out with braised short ribs. The evening ended with family-style desserts, proving everything is sweeter when shared!
The Details:
Bellamy Purinton’s vision for the event stemmed from the organic, al fresco dining one might experience in a New York City café. What better way to highlight the dining than to feature some of the ingredients of the dishes? Accents were rounded out by Loluma lighting, Stradley Davidson linens and expert commentary from advanced sommelier Patrick Emerson.
The Venue:
The Rutledge Room, Hamby Catering’s flagship event venue, served as the backdrop of the event. Both a guest lounge and community table were present, speaking to The Rutledge Room’s versatility. Located in the heart of the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood in Downtown Charleston, The Rutledge Room is the perfect blend of modern Southern charm and historical Lowcountry beauty.
